The Developer Launchpad Session at The Twitter Conference in LA

by Jason on July 27, 2009

Update: We’ve made a change to the Launchpad, and as a result, we’re moving the deadline out to midnight PST Friday the 28th of August. The change is this: the launchpad winner will be given the opportunity to demo their app in front of the entire conference audience the morning of Day 2. Details below:

At the Twitter Conference in Mountain View, we had a hit session at the end of the day called the Developer Launchpad. The concept is simple: launch your app at 140 | The Twitter Conference.

We’re doing it again.

Unlike the last event, this time through we’ll be working with a panel of conference speakers (who don’t have ties to any Twitter app vendors) to select the eight seven applications best qualified to demo for the launchpad session.

Those lucky developers will get five minutes (and five minutes exactly) up on stage during the Launchpad session to demo their new app to the audience.

Oh, and the deadline for dropping your name in the bucket is August 21st 11:59pm on Friday, August 28th, or 30 applications submitted, whichever happens first – so don’t dawdle.

There’s a prize? *new*

The selected applicants will be given a five minute demo spot at the end of the developer track on day one, and the panel of judges will give live feedback on each app.

At the end of the session, one app will be selected as the Launchpad Winner, and will be given the opportunity to demo their app to the conference audience at large in the main room on the morning of the 23rd.

How do I submit my app?

It’s a pretty simple, one-step process:

  1. Fill out the form

In the form you’ll notice there’s a place for you to give us a link to a demo video if you’ve got one. Feel free to hide it behind a password or a funky URL; we won’t share it with anyone else.

Technically speaking a video doesn’t do anything to your chances, but it might help us “get” your app better, which, you know, might help your chances…

Cool. Good luck.

Are there any rules or qualifications?

Yes again, but the list isn’t particularly long at the moment:

  1. You must be either launching a new Twitter application or providing a significant upgrade to an existing one (we get to decide what’s significant enough).

(we do reserve the right to change the rules/requirements in case someone decides to try and play outside the spirit of the law)

Easy, right? Go sign up now!
