Blog Building
PhotoMedia Magazine Online
The Parnassus Group worked with the creators of PhotoMedia Magazine to create a dynamic home for their content on the web.
We worked with our designer to come up with a custom banner and color scheme, and helped implement a set of rotating advertisements that show up in the sidebars and the header.
InFlightHQ
inFlightHQ is a blog that publishes tools, tips, and techniques for being productive at 30,000 feet. inFlightHQ was launched in partnership with Connexion by Boeing in 2005 and was touted by Steve Rubel as being a “brilliant and very safe application for corporate blogs.”
InflightHQ specifically targets technology-savvy business professionals demanding frequent Internet connectivity when traveling. Some recent article postings on InflightHQ range from ways to find free wifi when traveling to reviews of the best ultra-portable laptops for in-flight computing.
Fast Company Magazine said of inFlightHQ: “these bloggers offer advice and links to gear and services that make your time in the tin can more bearable.”
Blog Building and Development for National Access Network
For the National Access Network, our designer worked with the client to develop concept art and a banner for a two-column blog. Our development team then upgraded the existing WordPress install on NAN’s site and developed a theme to match the concept art.
We installed expand and contract sidebar menus using jquery and modified the wp-mail and sociable plugins to give NAN’s readers the ability to share content using a variety of services.
Of the effort, our client wrote:
I hired Parnassus to design a blog on education policy developments for a high-profile policy think tank based at Columbia University. The blog had lived conceptually in our minds for quite some time. Naturally, we had high hopes for its success. After one brief meeting, Parnassus understood our needs to a tee; developed a detailed timeline moving forward; connected us with an excellent graphic designer; and within weeks our new blog was up and running without a hitch, to our delight.
I have worked with several WordPress designers in the past. The professionalism at Parnassus can’t be beat. They are efficient. They meet deadlines. Their counsel on how best to compete in the crowded blogosphere is unparalleled. They are available at a moment’s notice for “crisis” communications. Their technical wizardry is enviable. In sum, Parnassus knows the ins and outs of WordPress and are experts at optimizing the technology to build a bigger web and blog presence. Our blog is growing in readership each day as a result of the great work of Parnassus.
You can view our work in action on the National Access Network’s site.
Certified Facilities: Making WordPress Imitate an Old Site
Our clients at Certified Facilities wanted a website that they could update themselves, and a blog that they could use to share their thought leadership in their rapidly changing industry.
They wanted us to mimic their old site, but to make it more searchable and to make all the content editable without needing to be a Web designer. To make the switch, we took their existing stylesheet, modified it slightly and built a WordPress theme around it.
Our design team thrives on the challenge of translating an old design to this new back end.
Beauty for Beauty: Showcasing the Lovely and Talented Esther Mira
Esther Mira is an up and coming Hollywood actress. She retained the Parnassus Group to design and develop a WordPress blog that she could use to share her thoughts about life, the industry and her craft with fans as well as photos and film reels to showcase her considerable talent and beauty for industry insiders.
Since Esther is fanatical for the color pink, we created a site that incorporates many intricate pink elements without going overboard. We also incorporated a fashion shot of the actress in the actual site theme to personalize the look of the site.
And since Esther’s favorite animal is the koala, she calls her blog KoalaStar Rising.
