Who are we?
The Parnassus Group is a new media agency that helps companies engage in the social media space. Parnassus is best known for the conferences we produce for marketing professionals, notably the Blog Business Summits and the Web Community Forum conferences.
Locally, Parnassus has been involved in a number of campaigns of note — including the 2005 ”Blogging the Stratosphere” event we conceived and planned for their partner Boeing. The event received wide industry acclaim: it won a Gold SABRE award and received a nomination for the PR Week “Best Use of the Internet” award.
The Team:
Steve Broback is the founder of the Blog Business Summit and the Web Community Forum conferences. He is also the coauthor of Publish and Prosper: Blogging for Your Business (Peachpit Press, 2006.) He also co-founded Thunder Lizard Productions, (a technology event production company) in 1991, which became a subsidiary of Fawcette Technical Publications in 2000.
At Thunder Lizard, Broback orchestrated some of the most successful technology events of the last 10 years focusing on Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, and Macromedia DreamWeaver. He also produced TLP’s Web Design World, Macromedia Web World, and other events with attendees numbering in the tens of thousands.
Frequently tagged as the human equivalent of Adderall, Kim Larsen manages sales and operations at Parnassus Group.
A member of the team since 2004, Kim brings 15 years of executive leadership experience from companies such as Nordstrom and Hertling Industries where she served as Vice President of Women’s Wear.
Joseph Mouhanna spent the bulk of his career (19 years) at Microsoft, and
the past 5 years running his own company, in a variety of software
development, architecture and business development roles.
At Microsoft, he led some of the most important initiatives in broadband,
VoIP, Video on Demand, Triple/Quad Play, wired/wireless networking,
home/business automation and web services in an always connected world and
served as Microsoft’s Chief Networking Architect. For the past five years,
he’s been evolving these architectures, and refining concepts for the future
of Social Networking and the end-to-end Architecture and ecosystem of the
Digital Life.
A self-proclaimed jack of all trades,
Jason Preston is a professional blogger, blog consultant, and internet handyman. He also spends his spare time blogging at his own blog, which should tell you something about his personal life. No, really, if you read his personal blog you’ll find out more about him.
At Parnassus Group, Jason has worked on a variety of web-based community management and marketing initiatives, from learning the ins and outs of Facebook to growing blog readership and promoting the Blog Business Summit and Web Community Forum.
Jason graduated from Occidental College in May 2007 with a major in Diplomacy and World Affairs (DWA), which is a grab-bag of economics, business, politics, and international relations. He’s worked on the Blog Business Summit team since 2005, and has kept a blog in some form or another since 2001. His most recent distraction from work takes the form of a blog on the future of publishing called Eat Sleep Publish.
